Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds are about to release their 16th studio album in September. With the tragic death of his son last year while Cave was working on the album, this will no doubt be a sombre and typically dark affair.
Titled Skeleton Tree, it follows 2013’s Push The Sky Away. Work on it begun in late 2014 in Brighton with further sessions recorded in France last year. One More Time With Feeling, a black-and-white and colour film by Andrew Dominik, will be the first public airing of the album tracks, and premieres on September 8.
The film “delves into the tragic backdrop of the writing and recording of the album” and both the film and the album are described as “a testament to an artist trying to find his way through the darkness”. It features performances from the Bad Seeds and narration from Cave. The album comes out the next day, September 9.
