Witness the evolution and creation of Everything Is Recorded’s Mercury nominated debut album with this visually alluring film, exclusively airing on 4:3. The intergenerational collective are driven by a spirit of sound system inspired collaboration and experimentation and this open door, keep-the-tapes-running spirit is vividly captured here.

Directed by CHILD and Mahaneela, the film features exclusive interviews with project leader Richard Russell and his collaborators, unseen behind-the-scenes footage of the recording sessions (featuring Baluji Shrivastav, Ben Reed, Giggs, Green Gartside, Ibeyi, Infinite Coles, Joe Brown, Lil C, Mela Murder, Nubya Garcia, Obongjayar, Peter Gabriel, Sampha, Tic, Wiki, Yazz Ahmed and Richard Russell) and a cinematic documentation of their debut live shows.

“The whole idea of collaboration is not really widely understood, people don’t really get it,” says Russell. “Because people ask you these questions like “but how does it get to be like this? Who did what?” I mean you can try and break that down but that’s like the opposite of what you’re doing. When you’re making these things the last thing you’re thinking about is “who”? It’s just “what?””
