Chainslap Garage is all about class, character. When bikes had them, but maybe couldn’t quite pull it off in the performance stakes. The heart held back by the brains. So we meld classic road frames with modern performance parts to create a riding experience that goes beyond just turning endless leg circles or posturing with power meters. You’ll evoke emotions that you forgot you even possessed any more. You’ll stare lovingly at the straight lines, round tubes and perfect angles, and wonder how molded, misshapen plastic ever fooled you.

Chainslap Garage Super Prestige division hand-selects frames and components and lovingly assembles them into builds that we dream of. We work mostly in steel, but have a special place in our hearts for some alloy if it’s Merckx, Cannondale, or maybe a Klein. Bikes that made us look twice, and dream about riding them. Chainslap Garage seeks them out and makes them even better. Why ride without soul, without individuality, without style? Every Garage build is a one off, as we pick the frame, drivetrain and components to form a cycling symbiosis that only you will possess. The retro and the modern, to us, creates the perfect blend for the best-looking and riding bicycles there are. The renown feel of steel will never be bettered, and the crisp shifting, solid braking, and usable gear ranges of the modern groupsets we choose means you are getting the same performance as a newer plastic bike, but with the added caché that comes from real metal. Rim brakes rule, we love threaded bottom brackets, external cable routing and think aero integration is a scam! Our bikes are able to be worked on without a degree in metaphysics and an exercise in frustration. Fit new cables in ten minutes rather than two hours? We’re all for it. We fit new cables for the best performance, new rubber and brake pads if required, and use quality brand parts as exclusively as we can. We endeavour to keep the value as high as possible by keeping the costs low, while we recognise that quality is worth paying for, and individuality and uniqueness is priceless.

Our Road Rat division throws any old shit together, without worrying about what matches, how many scratches, what is supposed to work with what. Some of the most fun bikes to ride are ones that rose from the parts bin like a rusted, greasy phoenix, a piece of old bar tape stuck to its foot.
