This could easily have been a Mike Patton Monday, but who can wait that long? The man with the often-purported greatest vocal range in music history stole not only my ears but my heart and a few other bits in the late 80s and took it to another level of man-love around the Angel Dust era, with that dirty sleazy Latino moustache and swing-crooner swagger meets punk attitude smeared over the festering boil of rap-metal that was dead by the late 80s… but somehow he pulled it off.

Of course the songwriting brilliance of Burt Bacharach was designed all those years before for Mr Patton, somehow knowing that this virtuoso would pin the ultimate exclamation mark on one of the maestro’s most melodic masterpieces.

Seek out the rest of this BBC session to be truly mesmerized by a band whose peak has lasted the best part of 30 years. No shit.
