With the world’s most beautiful Grand Tour going on right now in Italy it’s fitting to take a look back at a time when the men who raced it didn’t have the luxury of warm clothing and usable gear ratios. Some of them were even more heroic off the bike, as was the story of Gino Bartali who not only won the race on three occasions but rescued and harboured victims of the Holocaust during WWII.

Current day pros Dan Craven and Aviv Yechezkel of the Israel Cycling Academy team take a ride on some sweet old Pinarellos on a special day to honour Bartali and tell a story that many might not know about not only a great cyclist but a great man.
