Carla Fuentes’ “Le Tour”
Occasionally we stumble across little nuggets of beauty when bicycles and art intersect.
Carla Fuentes is an illustrator with an eye for detail and a deft touch with textures in mixed media. There’s an elegance to her brightly coloured work, the stripped back compositions tactile and feel intimate. Lucy Bourton from itsnicethat.com describes her work thus:
Her series Le Tour capturing the characters of the Tour de France demonstrates a talent for elucidating the details of textures. Her style of sketching mountains, roads, and shadows over clothing uses similar skills appropriated to emphasise ornate details. Not only does Carla depict the cyclists but the equipment that makes the event possible, individually drawing fragments of bikes, bottles of water, gloves and caps.
