Equinox, on first viewing, may seem dated. Indeed within three minutes we are informed that the bicycle is virtually standardised, the narrator seems proud to declare most components are interchangeable and no longer is rapid development possible, simpler times.

However Equinox remains an immensely enjoyable documentary after 27 years, replete with intriguing details of the industry as it was, from steel tube manufacturing at Colombus to the endearingly quaint old frame builders of Jack Taylor Cycles, bemoaning the lack of tyre clearance on ‘modern’ road bikes.
