When it comes to e-bikes, who isn’t a little sceptical? In fact, the mere mention of them seems to elicit a wide range of freak-out reactions from probably the same people who freaked out about full suspension, disc brakes and 8 speed cassettes. And like those things, there will be a time when the same people will either embrace or at least accept them, and realise that there are plenty of actual bad things that are taking away your liberties, and riding a bike isn’t one of them.

The Coastal Crew have bravely opened up their own can of worms with their latest video of some pedal-assisted shredding on Specialized’s Levo Turbo FSR. If they hadn’t told us they were riding e-bikes, would we really know? Are they a nail in the coffin of mountain biking as we know it, or just another way to enjoy the trails for a wider range of people who may not be able to otherwise?
