A couple of New Zealand’s modern classic rides, the Heaphy track and the Old Ghost Road, are usually tackled as separate entities. Soo one of NZ’s classic adventurers and documenters, Damian stones, decided that linking them together would double the fun, and consequently the hardships, that can present themselves on such a trip. The Grand Loop was borne from the mind and manifested physically in possibly the worst time to do it, the South Island winter.
