Greg ‘HB’ ‘Hairball’ Herbold is often overlooked when it comes to the first UCI Mountain Bike World Championship discussions, where most of the focus falls on Ned Overend and Julie Furtado who took the cross-country titles at Durango, Colorado in 1990. But HB ruled supreme over the world’s best downhillers that weekend, and all on a machine that looks too scary to even trail ride by today’s standards. Just look at that stem! Still a rad looking machine though.
