I grew up just round the corner from Wyn. We rode bikes as kids, but I was more into nipping around skate parks (poorly) on a BMX while he got into mountain biking proper. Our interests are more aligned nowadays, and when our schedules coincide we occasionally sneak off into the bush in New Plymouth to carve up some lesser known trails.

He was in Wellington recently on his way to Nelson to compete in the NZDH series. We caught up at Six Barrel Soda (the day after his fairly rowdy GT Team party at Capital Cycles) for a quick yarn about the 2017 season, concussions and whether illegal singletrack has a place in a city’s trail network.
